On the evening of Aug. 28, local police were dispatched to the Atria Hillsdale nursing home in San Mateo, California, after receiving a report “of a female who had been poisoned,” according to a statement. Police learned that three of the residents had been hospitalized after ingesting toxic chemicals. One of the poisoned elderly, a 93-year-old woman, later died in hospital. Police did not release any information on the condition of the other two elderly people....

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been investigating after they say Ontario Provincial Police officers shot the boy’s father in his car in Kawartha Lakes, Ont., after he allegedly kidnapped his child on Nov. 26, 2020. The child, identified by the SIU as 18-month-old Jameson Shapiro, died that day, while the father died of a gunshot wound about a week later. The SIU says three OPP constables — Nathan Vanderheyden, Kenneth Pengelly and Grayson Cappus — have been charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter and one count of criminal negligence causing death in connection with the boy’s death....

A woman in her 80s was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in Beccles last week. Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian suffered head injuries following reports of a collision with a blue Peugeot 207 on St Anne’s Road, at the junction with Ingate, shortly after 11.20am. of Friday August 26.
