The film’s director Alex Pritz does the work of the mediator here, also giving us the perspective of the farmers who illegally settle on indigenous lands. There’s Martins, who cuts a path through the woods with his chainsaw, building a cabin in Uru-Eu-Wau-Wau territory. As he sees it, the natives are unproductive: “They don’t cultivate, they don’t create, they just live there.” The Territory hits theaters September 2nd.
